I think that many parts on the Grand Cherokee are also on the Cherokee, as are many parts found on Dodge's trucks and SUVs (ie: doorhandles) and Im sure you find parts on Chrysler's too, since Jeep and Dodge are owned by Chrysler. But this is not what you need to know.
Regarding the suspension, are you planning to put a lift kit on your GC? Or do you mean like the springs for a more comfortable ride? But I'm sure you would be able to use most underpinnings from the Cherokee on your Grand Cherokee. I have a 95 GC Laredo, and anything that works on mine would work on yours.
