OK. When calling a business as a potential client, don't think you are gonna get anywhere by being a rude @$$hole to the person answering the phone. Remember he/she has control of whether or not you will get transferred to where you need to go. The person answering the phone also does NOT have all the answers you are looking for. His/her job is to answer and transfer calls, not to be bogged down by a million questions or rudeness while 3 other lines are ringing in.
THis guy called (I'm on the phones while the receptionist is at lunch). I told him the person who could answer his questions was out for lunch and offered for him to leave a name and number on her voicemail. He said he didn't really have a number for her to call back to (well you called us, right? I'm thinking). So he asked if there was someone else he could talk to and I told him this lady was the only one that handles calls for his kind of matter. He asked if the phone consultation was free and I said yes. Then he just did a 180 on me and started bitchin at me on how we charge too much (he's not even a client) and his tone was extremely rude. Then he started swearing at me, so I just hung up. No one should put up with that BS. So he called back and asked for my boss and I said "He out for lunch, want his voicemail?" Again he got rude then asked if there was anyone else above me and I said, "NOPE!" and hung up again. I think he got the hint that time
So in conclusion, If you want to do business, clean up your attitiude and treat others with a little respect, and you just might get somewhere....(shocker huh?)
