Nothing wrong with the new GT

300 HP in the new GT is just fine

Not many 'stangs over 300 HP. Cobra's from what..1996 and on?
305HP, 320HP, 390HP. And these are the premium 'stangs. The exception if you will, to be compared with the old Bosses and Cobra Jets.

Now if you want to compare today's GT to the old 'stangs, then compare 'em to regular v-8 'stangs. That being said, not many regular v-8 'stangs were over the 300 HP mark.

'67 390 320HP
'68 390 325HP
'69 390 320HP
'70 351 300HP
'71 351 330HP

That's it...that's all. All the regular 302's, 289's, et al.....all under 300HP.
Everything else over 300HP is 'exotic' Cobra Jets, Boss 429's, Hi-Po 289 Shelbys, regular Shelby's, side oiler 427's. So IMO today's 'regular' V-8 'stang, otherwise known as the GT, ranks pretty high with it's predecessors. It's fine as is. 300 HP is nothing to sneeze at either. No need to get crazy with it...no camoro's or firebirds or cudas to compete with. Aftermarket stuff is comin' too. And I bet Ford will tweak it a little each year to get another 10 or 20 HP out of the 3V. If you wanna really wage war with vette's and vipers and 300c's....you'll have to wait for the new Cobra, or buy a used '03 or '04. Again, just my $.02.
