Ouch rod-knock, sorry to hear about that.
If money is really tight you might want to look into importing a JDM engine, it will definetly be cheaper than rebuilding. A full rebuild will be the better choice for the long run though, it should last much longer if it the maintanence is kept up right. Good luck with it, if you need any help we are here.
