Just changed mine out last night because the FM doesn't work, and if you look around, that is the HUGE problem w/that Infiniti system.
To take it out, no real fuss, just gently pop off the two fake-wood trim peices on either side of the steering column, then remove the 5 screws across the top of the instrument cluster, and the 4 on the bottom (2 on either side of the steering column). Then it should pop free (you might have to life upward on the heavy plastic dash area over the instruments to truly free the peice. After that, the old stereo is held in by 2 hex screws, just undo those and it will come right out. Any commerical mounting kit will help you mount the new stereo (if it is the standard slim one, if it is the thicker style I'm not sure how best to fit it). On the back of the infiniti is 4 sets of wires. The Feed Connector and the Speaker Connector will both go into an aftermarket/generic harness, but the ground plug doesn't. You can strip back the ground wire and insert it into this plug and then tape it up if you want. The other set of wires appears to be the connection to the computer console, so you should be fine ignoring that. Make sure that you DO connect the blue AMP wire whrever you find that on the harness because the Infiniti system has a factory amp under the back seat (in case you didn't know).
And I was happy to find that there is plenty of room behind the stereo for the wires for a change.
