I was just waitin' for ya Ami! If I didn't have the Civic & was looking for a project car, it would be a Bug or Squareback. They're easy to find, extremely easy to work on, and probably the best car you could start with if you're wanting to learn. Plus they're light as hell, RWD, get awesome gas mileage, etc...!
Not to mention they're cheap! I've had a number of friends over the years that have had Bug's & they could SMOKE my Civic (which isn't saying much at the moment
) - and they only spent a couple hundred bucks (if that).
Another bonus is that, if you're into car audio, the Bug has a really good interior shape for SPL.
I could go on for days...
