You can have the best AWD but if your tires suck then you aren't going anywhere. Which is why you see alot of SUV drivers thinking if they have AWD they are going to never get stuck.
THen you see me blow by them with my 1989 Civic Si with 4 snow tires on. Which tires do you drive on in the snow? If you live in a snow area snow tires are your best friend.
Specially last year when we (PA) had that blizzard. About 6' of snow dropped. Stuck my snow tires on (NOkian Hakkapelitta 2s) a month before that storm and drove around with no problems.
