I then decided to change the fuel filter since I had a brand new one in my toolbox that I hadn't changed out yet (wow that's a blast...who the heck drew that design up?) After changing the filter I tried once again to start the truck...no change, turns over no fire. I took the air intake off and poured some gas into the intake, not knowing for sure what this would do and it fired off and died, tried it again, same thing.
I replaced the filter, I have spark, fuel pump runs and flows fuel, why won't this truck run?

I am thinking fuel pressure regulator, but where is it and what doies it look like?
...Any suggestions?

Check fuel pressure.

Do you have the orange vortec name plate on the top of your engine?
