I have to agree with you, they should be able to replace the end of the driveshaft that has the problem. Also the center bearing can be replaced without replacing the driveshaft, all this information is in the shop manual. I don't think the center bearing has grease fittings, the shop manual doesn't show grease fittings for it. If you live near a big city you may want to check with a shop that specialises in drive line repair, look for a place that does trucks. They usually know what they are doing and should be able to get the parts needed. Of course if your truck is still under warranty you will want to stick with a Toyota dealer. Good luck.
