Sliding door sensor not working

I too have been plagued with the mind crazing ding ding ding when driving and inside lights being on as if a door is open with the door ajar light always illuminated. A mech ran a computer check and the door that is causing the issues appears to be my sliding door.

The lock doesn't always come up enough with the remote lock thing, and it won't open and sometimes I need to push it a few times to get it up high enough to open the door. I use the key and the lock gets sticky with that too I have to fenagle(sp?) it a bit.

Sometimes when the dinging keeps on and the lights are on and I leave the van and push the lock button, the locks will go down then the sliding door lock pops back up. Sometimes it won't even lock at all.

Crazy crazy door. Is it possible to change or fix that sensor myself? I know it has those pins on it and upon inspection I see that the two parts to it are attached to the vehicle with some kind of something that I can't remove. I hope this makes sense but hey this is a Ford and well we have to be so creative with these vehicles, it isn't a standard screw or a bolt or anything it is totally flat. Thanks in advance.

I do have to add that that door dinging is one of the most torturous sounds alive.
