If I was you, I'd check out the car thoroughly first.
I paid $700 for my Sunbird, and have put over $1000 into it just to get it running smooth. And if you read my other thread, you'd see that my car is dead for now, too.
I'd check the front struts and the rear shocks... they are prone to be worn out. If everything looks in good condition... I'd buy it.
I have had nothing but problems with my Sunbird, but I think it was manufactured in the depths of Hell. I don't have experience with other Sunbirds so I can only talk from experience with mine...
