I have yet to drop a valve seat (knock on wood) and rev the piss outta my car, and it's overheated a few times as well. I would suggest checking the timing, as my car has jumped time from a nice good jump on the throttle. To me, it sounds as if you've jumped 1 possibly 2 belt notches on the cam.
