Your A/C compressor pulley wheel and clutch plate should spin freely when the A/C is switched off. Remove the serpentine belt and try to turn the pulley wheel by hand , if the wheel will not turn then the clutch hub bearing is siezed. A new bearing is required and will cost approx $30.00 + fitting. All this can be done without touching the A/C compressor internals. Once the bearing is replaced you can use the vehicle even if the A/C system is empty and the compressor will not engage.
