I found this site looking for the reason why they will not replace my stupid part when the check engine line remains on 90% of the time and when I had it tested, I was told it was coded as the CPM Sensor.... I'm still trying to figure this one out. I hope that helps you! Good Luck!

Only certain cam sensors are under the recall...only certain ones have the potential to catch fire. What the technician has to do is pull out the cam sensor and check the lot # on the part. If it falls within a certain range, then it gets replaced under the recall. If not, then you would have to pay for it if it has failed and is not within the lot numbers. All parts have lot numbers to help determine when and who made a specific part. I think Daewoo got a bad batch of cam sensors and some were installed in the cars when they were first produced and some were used as replacement parts.
just because your light is on due to a faulty cam sensor does not mean it gets replaced under the recall. If it has failed, and not part of the recall, then you have to pay for it if you want it fixed. And just because your VIN # falls within the range on the letter, that does not gaurantee replacement either. That just means that the recalled part will fit your car. Daewoo has no way of knowing whether your cam sensor was replaced if you previously paid for it. That is why they are sending letters to all owners within the VIN range.
