Home Built Roofrack

I spent some time looking at roofracks on the internet and I quickly learned that roofracks are damn expensive. My solution was to build my own. Building my own rack allowed me incorporate the features I wanted and it allowed my friend Rich to practice his welding skills.

The rack is approx 60"x40-something". A hi-lift mount is located on the drivers side and the center of the rack drops a couple inches between the stock bars so the spare tire is as low as possilbe.

The pictures are from last weekend when we built it, I still need to finish the paint job, add light tabs, and mount it to the X. I'll post more pictures when the rack is completed and mounted.

I guess I can say goodbye to parking garages

Total cost thus far is about 50 bucks.

***If the pictures are not showing up, I'm sorry, they are linked to space on AOL, and AOL SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!***
