I would also have to recommend talking with Redneck383, his car is similiar to what you are looking for.

Anyway, if you define "good hp" as "alot" without being crazy undrivable then you'll probably want to stop at 300-400 hp. After that the boost levels and power output create alot of wear and tear on the engine and drive train. Getting that power out of an RB25 is pretty easy, running a stock engine and turbo at 15 psi of boost with a good intake and exhaust set up should make something in the mid 300hp range. Given the light weight of the 240Z, that would be a very fast car and at the same time, an easy to drive and maintain car. Doing the same 15psi, intake and exhaust upgrades with SR20 should net somewhere in the high 200hp range.

Note: I'm not really up on either engine so don't take those as good hard numbers.
