The fact that the motor ran after striking it means it is not seized. It's more likely that you have a poor ground (possibly by the extreme temperatures - metal expands/contracts). If it fails again, you could rig a ground wire from the blower motor casing to a good ground point on the engine and see if this solves the problem.
