No, the Camaro is considered a muscle car too. It is both. A muscle car is a mid sized car, or smaller, with a big engine first being the GTO. They lasted until the mid or early seventies when the smog/oil crisis hit. The pony term came from the long hood and short deck which originally came from the Mustang then the Camaro. They are all muscle cars. Pony cars are just a sect of the muscle cars.
