The stock boost level is 14.3 psi, and that small TD04 Mitsucrapi turbo will not be good for more then 16 psi of boost. I know someone ran 17psi on it and it was burned out during a short brief WOT run, and that turbo didn't look and smell good after that. Mostly the bearing seals that weakens due to temperature and load.
The EJ will run 17psi just fine like their Japanese counterpart non-STi models, but they also use a larger turbo.
