As far as the oil smell, it could just be oil that was spilled on the manifold or something worse. I'd just check regularly to see if you are losing a significant amount of oil. On that note, some of our trucks eat quite a bit of oil with nothing wrong apparently. I'd just check it and add if neccessary.
