direct port is where there is a fuel and nitrous nozzle for each individual cylinder. those kits are for when you're making massive horsepower with nitrous, what's known as a 'big shot'. yes it makes the most horsepower, but it's not necessarily 'the best'. if you only want to top out at about a 200 shot use a single nozzle system, and the next step up is a plate system, then a direct port system. obviously multiple stages increases the effect. once you get into big shots you need to have better pistons rings, as large nitrous shots will melt stock rings.

the zex kit you're referring to is called a 'cheater' system, and i believe it's only good for a 75 shot.
