You are pushing past the power band before changing gear, there is no need to push it there because the car is designed for smoothness and gas mileage. . The throw of the cam (timing of the opening and closing of the valves) determines your RPM to HP ratio, a hot cam will keep the valves open a bit longer to feed the engine past the designed 6k. This is why your car specifications will tell you that your car puts out XXXamount of Horse Power @ 6000rpm and so many foot pounds of Tourque. Pulling power. = excelleration.

First of all the red line is 7k and the 4g63 can handle it just fine
second its DOHC , dual over head cams , not cam
cams dont raise your redline that much ,if anything aftermarket springs, rockers and retainers with raise your red line...
