Probably a lot cheaper and less work to get another car. You can get a good manual 4th gen for 800 or so. So you can buy a civic with a manual and then sell your automatic.

And they have stronger auto transmissions, like the ones the new acuras have, and the newer accords etc, but not sure if they make one for our cars. Most people have the manual transmission anyway, so there's not much of a market for a nice strong auto, unless it's compatible with other civic generations.
