I have had a similar experience. I have used several different wires, including Ford and nothing lasts more than two two years. I have always been able to find a carbon track on the plug or wires and it is random. It sucks but I just change the plugs and wires whenever it happens and that is that.
The grease on the wires does help. Anti seize on the plug threads is a must.
