Someone I know ran a 3g eclipse and shifting manually it was never faster than letting it do it on its own, no matter what he tried. But as variable change so will optimum shift points. The tranny is programmed for a stock motor with stock HP curve. A modified motor may need to shift at higher rpm, etc. Only way to find out is to do both and see what works. We can all discuss this on the internet all day, but in the end the timeslips will be more accurate
