Re: is this probe worth buying? -thanks

make sure the turn signals and all electrical is working. first gens tend to have a few shorts.
also check exhaust system depending on where you live the mufflers get eatin up pretty quick.
and check the trunk for any rust, the tailights weatherstriping has a tendency to wear out and let water into the trunk.
another problem was the paint the clear wore down very quick and many probes are oxidized. because of this ford motor co. was taken to court and had many recalled even on many second gens this was a problem unfortunatly when the recall took place many probes had not had this problem yet. so very few were actually taken in. but considering the age of the car the paint isn't gonna be perfect.
as far as the engine ive never had a 6cyl so i dont know of any problems.
other than that just check the car as you would any other. get underneath and check the front and rear for any damage(any bent metal behind the bumpers) another trick i use is a magnet wrap it in some toilet paper or a napkin (to not scratch the paint) and run it over the car if it doesnt stick to a part then its got more bondo than it should. but keep in mind that the car does have a plastic front rear bumpers and mirror housings.
hope this helps.
