Use whatever grade of gas your owner's manual says (unless you've modded the motor, then you're on your own). But using a different grade will NOT mess up the FUEL TANK (why would he/she think that?). But if you use too LOW of a grade, it can cause preignition and, ultimately, damage the motor.
