the temp sensor is located under the distributor, has a green plug with one wire on it. you can test it with a ohm meter. start with the engine cold, have the ground wire from your meter to metal on the block. put you positive wire on the pin inside the connector. put the meter on OHMS. the reading should chang as the engine warms up. if the reading does change, you have a bad sensor. must be replaced. I would recommend an AUTOMETER water temp guage. It is more acurate. I did that when my sensor went bad, I like it much better.
