I wouldn't recommend 18s on an MR2 if you are looking for performance and/or comfort. If you want a bigger rims and still retain some comfort and performance, I would suggest 17s in the rear and 16s in the front.

Tire size I would go with 215 in the front and 235 or 245 in the back.

For suspension we do not have shocks, we have struts. If you are worried about it being too stiff, I would get the Tokiko Illumina struts. If you want to save some money and can handle a stiffer ride, go for the KYB 4-way adjustables.

Sway bars ... again it depends on how stiff you want to be. I have the ST Sways and I am quite pleased, but I will pick up a wheel off the ground when I am going down a curb ramp. It is very stiff. You want to check out the TRD Sways if you want something stiff, but that stiff. They are also lighter.
