Re: high idle after starting
My 3 93 tbirds and my old '95 f150 do/did that. The birds have a high idle for about 20 seconds and step down in rpms similar to what you describe and the f150 would take 45 seconds or so. But this is only when the car is cold, not after reaching operating temps. As far as what cause it to go goofy, couldn't tell you.
