I also just cleared the amber out of my rear lenses. It is a pain in the a$$, but I didn't have trouble getting the lens to come away from the housing. The two things that gave me trouble were cutting a replacement piece of flourescent light covering, and getting it to stay in place of the amber piece.
What worked for me was heating the blade of a sheetrock knife and that cut through the plastic like a charm, a little sanding and it looked fine. Then I just took a regular glue gun and put beads of glue on the four corners of the replacement piece and closed everything back up. Really looks amazing!
