I've heard something similar: that switching to synthetic oil in a high mileage engine that has used regular oil can cause problems with gaskets. The theory being that the synthetics may help to remove deposits that might be preventing small loil eaks around gaskets and such. I've heard reasonable sounding people on both sides of that one regarding oil/oil additives. But I haven't heard that about injector cleaner. For one, like the man said, it probably doesn't do anything that drastic. Plus it gets burned on a specific fuel pathway so it's gone with the end of the tank. Deposits around an oil gasket are one thing, but you probably don't want to rely on them to prevent fuel or compression leaks. The injector cleaners might not do much good, but I haven't heard that they do any harm.
