Re: Performance how-to's 93 CIvic coupe

The only way to get real power out of the stock motor is to turbo it. The stock motor is only 102hp, so adding basic bolt-ons isn't going to give you that much power. What most people do is swap the motor out with a DOHC Integra or JDM Civic/Del Sol VTEC/'99-'00 Si (b16a) motor. But it's been proven that you can get more hp gains from a turbo on a stock motor than just swapping in the b16a. It really depends on what your hp goals are and how much $ you're willing to spend though. For good info on turboing the current motor check out www.turbod16.com and www.homemadeturbo.com. For info on the different motors to swap in check out this FAQ page on the '92-'95 page: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...ad.php?t=19176
As for transmission, I'd say go with the Si or EX tranny for their closer and shorter gearing. For that check you local junkyard or classified ads on here and other sites. Between looks and power; most people here would rather go for hp first before looks. Of course not everyone agrees though. Unfortunately the reality of things is that when you buy a Civic and go for all looks yet still have the stock slow motor, you get called a Ricer. That's just my opinion (and a lot of others who have been there and done that).
