The steering sounds like a resonance in the P/S system. Remove the serpantine belt and start the truck, I'll bet all your vibrations are gone.
Oh, remove it, don't just slip it off the tensioner. The A/C compressor is "active" at all times except when the selector is: off or heat (maybe vent).
