Yes, the base SOHC model Prelude S has a different suspension than the Si or VTEC. In fact, I'd probably wager that a third gen Si could probably outhandle a fourth gen S.
Rx-7 and Rx-8 are in a totally different class (a true sports car), and the Miata is a roadster. Mx-3 is closer to the Honda CRX, which I'd say a V6 would rape unless its engine had been swapped.
Anyhow, we're not saying the MX-3 is by any means a bad car...
