Eclipse Recall Dec 2000
Ok, well... I'd have to say that I'm already pissed off, cause I was supposed to have my whole front axle rebuilt with new parts (cheaper than replacing). Any way... I knew that I had a bad rubber boot on one of the lower lateral arm ball joints. I expected this to be fixed when I took it to this guy to do (never have or will go back to him again... Its been a few months). So I get a flat tire and my friend put the spare on for me (good thing to have a guy help out... Sometimes I don't want to get dirty... Sometimes I do.) And ofcourse he has to say "Hey! You know you have a bad boot on your axle." To me, this is just one more thing to add onto the list of things to fix that should have been fixed list. At this point, I'm pretty accepting of New things going wrong; however, I felt pretty stupid trusting this guy to do a rebuild and do a complete one (if he did anything at all) on my axle. So, to the point. I was going through the recall list for 97 Eclipse models and found one on Dec 15, 2000 for possible damage to the rubber boots during assembly, which can bring in water and dirt. In addition, the boots also could possibly leak moisture which can cause the ball stud to corrode. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, can you still have it fixed after the recall expires?
