My '97 sporadocally will not start on the first try like that, or will huff and chug like it lost track of crank position, but it's done it since it was almost new, and I never worried about it much. I have found that when it does it, if I turn the key back off, and wait a few seconds, it will fire right up. I have no explaination. But this has been going on for 7 years, it is just something I've accepted.
