Question look here another tranny problem

i recently attained a 1992 taurus and guess what the tranny has a problem HOWEVER i have not heard of this one befor heres the deal it will somtimes shift hard or take too long to shift or somtimes i think it shifts into the wrong gear cus it can be kinda sluggish after it shifts but the real kicker is that after driving for a while #1 the car likes to start in 2nd (i think) and (sometimes when its cold but normally hot) it wont shift into overdrive but the problem is gotten around by turning off the ignition while the car is still moving for a couple of seconds and then turning it back on after the car comes back on it will then shift into overdrive and cruise down the road i originally thought the tranny was going out the door like most of them do however with this turning-off-of-the-key-quick-fix it makes me think electrical problems but i dont know where to start a A LITTLE CAR INFO the car has 163000 miles on it the motor runs great everything works the car sat for the past year and a half but the problems started a long time befor that the transmission fluid apears to be quite burnt (im thinking the guy pulled his boat tooooo many times) im used to older non-computer cars but i think i can tackle this one by myself with a little direction if anybody could help PLLLEEEAAASSSEEE do so im very perplexed on this one thanx to all that read this
