Re: 1995 3.8L problems
I found the same on my 95 3.8. Hose melted going to dfpe sensor. Upon further inspection, I found the hose caked with a white residue. My first fix was to replace the two hoses with something more substantial, (Fuel line hose) and to clean as much of the white gunk out of the sensor tubes as I could. That was a few years ago. Just last month, I found the fuel line hose was getting brittle, so I replaced them, then I cleaned out the dfpe sensor inlet pipes with a hand held drill bit. Well, I must have ruined that sensor, because the on the first ride after that the car wouldn't accelerate/downshift properly and the CEL came on. I bought a new DFPE ($52 US - Advance Auto), cleared the code, and now the car runs fine again. The 95 EGR is not nearly as complex as the newer models, I didn't find any trouble with the valve itself, just the DFPE which controls it.
