It is a good idea from Aoshima, my guess is that it is a repackaged old tooling. I recently purchased their GT-wing type 2 accessory pack and it was just composed of GT wing parts from their existing kits.
I would purchase a Tamiya item over any other manufacturer first, but to buy the kit just for the engine would be a bit of a waste in my view. I will be buying one of these Aoshima offerings just out of curiosity. Hopefully, we will not be that disappointed.
Just a little off topic, I have purchased Sakatsu's S2000 engine and that was a gem, albeit pricy! Imagine if Tamiya jumped on the accessory bandwagon and started to produce wheels and engines to their usual high quality...HEAVEN!!
