Here is a something you might find useful. When I bought my '93 Jimmy, I test drove it and the ABS worked. Then when I picked it up and was driving around I had to stop suddenly and the brakes locked. I didn't really care since I never had ABS in any other vehicle I owned.
However here is the interesting part. When I had to replace the rotors some time later, I noticed something. When the dealer saftied my truck they didn't replace them with the "Spec" rotor, which is about $80 CDN, they replaced them with a $20 rotor of the same size. The Rotor that makes the ABS work (which I now have ABS) has what looks like a gear (Teeth) on the inside of the rotor hub. The sensor I guess reads how fast/slow the gears go by and enable the ABS.
So get a set of rotors that are the same size and thickness that do not have the "gear" on the inner hub and you should now have no ABS.
