The lock for my ’99 Sienna passenger sliding power door locks (actuates) whenever I try to open it. Whether I use the remote or on-board “open” buttons or the inside /outside door handles, the door will lock and will not open. There is no beeping or warning light. If I repeatedly jerk on the outside handle and hold the lock open from the inside, I may get the door open. It closes and latches just fine.
I have reset the power locking system and checked for sticky weather stripping. I inspected inside the interior handle and lubed the button mechanism. The child resistant lock is unlocked. I have seen a posting about adjusting the lock cables or replacing part of the lock mechanism but there were no details.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Has anyone found much useful information in the repair manuals at Techinfo.Toyota.com? I have looked in a Chilton manual and it wasn’t much help.
