I know of 2 reasons to disable the ABS. One, if the control module goes bad, the part itself costs about $600 and that's for a remanufactured one.
The other, if you are using your Jimmy for some off-road fun, it's kind of hard to do some power slides if the brakes won't lock up. :-)
The control module on my '93 went bad. As a result, the ABS light was constantly on and wouldn't pass inspection that way. So, a friend of mine, who knows about cars, and I disconnected the wires on the ABS module. It's located above the front wheel well on the driver side.
There may have been something else disconnected that I'm not aware of. If this doesn't take care of it, let me know and I'll find out what else was disconnected.
