Well apparently I don't have a factory radio - it's a aftermarket shaft radio that was installed without the brackets (the car was bought used). Apparently the factory brackets that were removed from the installation so I can't use them. In addition the wires were rewired and for an "old panasonic" type radio (the radio was a Clarion). This was all according to the Circuit City install guys I had look at it when I went to buy another conversion kit thinking I had the wrong one.
I'm still trying to do this myself and save like $100 - it looks like I need a new set of brackets from the toyota dealer and to rewire. Is rewiring going to be a problem (they said it has to be a custom hard wire job- the wire harness won't work) or is it just a matter of connecting the correct colors? Any other suggestions?
Also, I'm still wondering, is the aftermarket radio supposed to go in the lower dash? It's a double din size - has anybody used a conversion kit to put a single iso-din radio in the lower dash?
