What it does is jars every little bit of crud loose from your tranny and lets it recirculate into the system. Just service your tranny like you should and don't worry about the flushing service. It can do more harm than good.

That's what I have always understood... I just thought it was odd that the shop didn't intend drop the pan and change the filter.... It seems the best plan is normal fluid and filter change...
