It's not what the battery does, per say, after the engine's started. It's just the mere fact that the truck can sense "something's" wrong with it's electrical voltage.

These trucks crave good strong voltage consistently, and are VERY picky about it!!

That's one thing I've for sure learned myself this summer, and they also hate refurbished alternators!!
