I can't remember if it was in 1988 or 1989 that they changed the radiator support to allow for the 3.0L to be installed. The earlier ones had a straight radiator support while the later ones were notched out towards the front to allow more room for the radiator with the V6.
Either way you are talking about a complete motor and tranny swap. Good luck with the project. I have a 92 Daytona V6 and love it.
