I was told by GM that the Dex-Cool was getting contaminated from the protective coating on the internal engine parts before assembly. I had a 99' blazer that GM flused out, at their cost. 6 months later iI could see the contamination coming back. I flushed the system and replaced it with green. I have'nt had any trouble since. Aluminum was around long before Dex-Cool, so I find it hard to believe that reg. antifreeze would hurt it. From my understanding, Dex-Cool is just more environmentally freindly with lower VOC's
