I do recall one of GM's concept cars back in the 50's useing rotary engines. It was a cancept for the firebird III. I belive that was the name of it. Looked really spacemanish. Strap a few rockets to that thing and send it to space, thats how it looked and thats the look they were going for. I'm gonna try to find a pic of it
