he's probably responding to some of what other ppl have posted on this thread as well....
anyway, i do it sometimes on my auto tranny but it really doesn't make too much of a difference on mine - maybe a little better response if you're redlining, but that's why the new acuras have the thing where it's meant to be driven as an auto and a stick (you get to pick the mode, not exactly sure how that works lol). Our auto trannys aren't really made for racing lol (i'm not even sure the box could take too much extra hp to the wheels before going out).
But, if you aren't racing (obviously), you shouldn't have anything to worry about. There are plenty of other things that would go wrong before the tranny does. Honda made a very reliable auto transmission, and if they didn't want you switching between 2nd, 3rd, and 4th on an auto tranny, they would of only put D4 on there and not the others.
